This is the first photo ever taken from space
It was taken by a camera strapped to V2 missile in 1946. The approach to taking the picture wasn’t very sophisticated: the missile was launched straight up, eventually reaching 65 miles, and then fell straight back down, slamming into the ground at 500 feet per second. The camera was obviously smashed, but the film, protected in a steel case, was developed.
